Camera History and Basic Function

1.  A small hole is put in a wall in a dark room.  the light from the other room is focused to this hole and projected onto the other wall but upside down.
2.  Sir Isaac Newton perfected the lens.
3.  The components were a lens, a dark box and film.
4.  They still have a lens and film (some is digital film).  The light still goes in through the lens and projects a picture on the film.
5.  Digital cameras use digital film to capture the image and then it is stored on a drive.
6.  The difference is that "auto" mode automatically does everything for you and almost guarantees a great shot.  However you can use "program" mode and put on all of the custom settings you want.
7.  Portrait mode blurs out the background to focus on a single person or thing.
8.  Sports mode freezes motion and uses the highest shutter speed possible.
9.  The photographer has to set focus, filters, exposure and shutter speed.
10.  The half press tells the camera that you're ready to take a picture, so it locks the focus and all other settings.
11.  The "Flash" symbol is a little lightning bolt and allows you to add extra light to the picture.
12.  The "Slow Flash" symbol is the same as the "Flash" symbol but has the word "slow" next to it.  this keeps the shutter open longer and allows you to get the full background.
13.  It gets flooded and blurry.
14.  It is to dark and doesn't look real.
15.  A "Stop" is a measurement of light.  1 stop is double the light there used to be.
16.  The planet is one stop brighter.
17.  The planet is two stops brighter.
18.  It causes more light to hit the film, causing a brighter picture.
19.  It causes less light to hit the film, causing a darker picture but reduces motion blur.
20.  The aperture controls how much light hits the camera and also focuses on what you want.
21.  You can decrease the aperture.
